4 Protein Treatments you should add into your Hair Care Regimen

Are you suffering from breakage and damaged hair from color or heat? You may need a protein treatment. Amp up your hair routine for maximum hair health and growth by early spring! In addition to moisturizing, maintaining the strength of your hair with a monthly protein treatment is crucial. Color-treated hair is especially susceptible for damage and breakage. Using a protein treatment, along with frequent deep conditioning and sealing will help your hair stay shiny and strong. Here are few tips on which protein treatments to add to your routine:

1. Treat your hair to a Two-Step Protein Treatment every 4-6 weeks to repair damage. Use also prior to color application for 30% less color fading after 10 washes.

If you dye or bleach your hair or use heat tools like straighteners, curling wands, or blow dryers regularly, we recommend a strong protein treatment such as the Two-Step Protein Treatment. This specialty treatment is a salon service product that can be used at home to improve the condition of damaged hair instantly.

Two-Step Protein Treatment process is an excellent pre-treatment to coloring the hair.  When used prior to coloring, it will remove any porosity from the hair which allows the color molecules better adhere to the hair which results in less color fading.  Studies have proven that when the Two-Step Protein Treatment process is used before a color, the hair will fade less.  In fact studies have showed 30% less color fading after 10 washes.

For best results a hooded dryer is required. Since this treatment is for heavy duty repair one application will last 4-6 weeks.

2. If you experience breakage regularly, then you can benefit from a medium strength protein treatment such as the Hair Strengthening Kit.

If you are comfortable working with salon strength products and have a hooded dryer, we recommend the original ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment. If not, the two-step ApHogee Hair Strengthening Kit is ideal and easy to use. In both processes, the amino Acids/Protein portion is applied alone and first, then the humectants and emollients are added in the second step. This provide a much longer lasting benefit than any one-step product. It can be done from start to finish in about 15 minutes. You need to use the Hair Strengthening Kit continuously once every two to three weeks.

3. In between treatments, alternate weekly with with a moisturizing or a lighter hair repair treatment.

If you do not dye, heat style, or experience much breakage then you should just focus on using light protein treatments to balance out your moisture. The Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor can be used weekly to add strength and moisture in one easy step. This is a strengthening conditioner infused with Keratin that can be used as a deep conditioner. The Curlific Texture Treatment is another option for natural hair that uses Quinoa protein to strengthen textured hair.
